Name: Oriana Reyes
Title: Kitchen Coordinator
How long have you worked at Second Helpings?
After being a temp employee for a year, I became a Kitchen Coordinator and now I’m about to be 1 year in this position this March 20.
What do you like most about your job?
I love the idea of using my time to contribute to the community. Knowing that I can help to fight hunger, which creates a struggle for so many people, makes me feel happy. Also being part of the second family, getting to know and work with amazing volunteers.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
No matter what you did before or where you came from, you can find opportunities in places that you never thought if you keep yourself positive and proactive.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Probably be a dancer or choreographer, Zumba coach. It’s my passion.
Where is your favorite place to be?
Wherever my family, daughter and friends are, preferably on the beach with them 🤭
