Food Waste

In the United States, more than 1/3 of all available food goes uneaten through loss or waste (Source: FDA, 2022). That means there’s one pound of food for every man, woman and child in this country every day of the year. Food waste severely impacts food security and the environment.

For 25 years, Second Helpings has been a leader in the fight to reduce food waste. We work with wholesalers, grocery stores, farmers, caterers, restaurants and event centers to make Central Indiana’s food system more efficient and less wasteful across the supply chain. Since we started, we have rescued more than 43 million pounds of food. Are you interested in joining the fight against local food waste?
