Culinary Job Training

Graduates of our free job training program change their lives.

Meet Lawanzer Perkins who graduated in 2013 and has changed her life.

Each student is provided with uniforms, textbooks and other assistance so they can concentrate on their training with fewer distractions. Students can expect homework each night, plus quizzes and tests.

Each step in the 7-week program ensures students are focused on mastering lessons and skills taught each day.

Instructors take time to answer questions and offer advice to make sure students are able to master the skills needed. Second Helpings offers more, too. Each student receives financial literacy training with BMO Harris Bank, and resumes and job interview training and practice. Students have job placement assistance and case management services from our partners at the John H. Boner Community Center.

Second Helpings’ Culinary Job Training program is a “Program of Excellence” by the American Culinary Federation.

Each Second Helpings graduate is eligible for 5 credit hours from the culinary program at Ivy Tech Community College and ServSafe Certification.
