Celebrating the Heart of Our Mission: Volunteer Appreciation Night 2025
On Tuesday evening, December 9, the halls of Second Helpings were buzzing with joy, laughter, and heartfelt gratitude as we hosted our annual Volunteer Appreciation Night, a special event dedicated to the incredible individuals and groups who make our work possible every single day.
From the moment the doors opened, the building was alive with celebration. Volunteers were treated to delicious food, warm company, and even a bit of magic, courtesy of a magic show by the amazing Sean Thacker!
This night was all about thanking the people who show up, give their time, and help move our mission forward, whether they’re chopping vegetables, rescuing food, delivering meals, or packing trays for partner organizations across Central Indiana.
We also had the honor of recognizing a few exceptional groups and individuals whose commitment truly stood out this year:

We are so grateful for every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart to Second Helpings. You are the hands that prep and pack, the wheels that deliver, and the spirit behind every meal we serve.
Special thanks to Michelle Woodruff, our Volunteer Services Manager, Priscilla Carbajal, our Volunteer Services Coordinator, and Becky Malkemes, our Special Events Manager, for creating such a memorable and meaningful celebration.
As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue growing this community of compassionate changemakers. If you’ve ever thought about volunteering with Second Helpings, there’s a place for you here.
