Let me introduce Muhammad Latifi, Second Helpings January’s Volunteer of the Month!

Muhammad has been a bright light and a fantastic addition to our Second Helpings volunteer family. If you have not had a chance to meet Muhammad, I encourage you to do so, his quick wit and sense of humor are priceless, and his heart radiates service, care, and a love for people. Help congratulate Muhammad on a well-deserved award.

Thank you for all you do Muhammad! Learn more about him in his own words below.

How did you become involved in Second Helpings?

My first introduction to Second Helpings was through a radio show on WICR 88.7 FM, the Radio of the University of Indianapolis.

What types of things have you done since you began volunteering with us?

Kitchen area:

  • Chop, Chop, and more Chopping in the kitchen with Joan and James (I do not want to give their last name since I do want to be taken to court for revealing their true identity 🙂 ). Now I’m not afraid of chickens, cows, or pigs.

Hub area:

  • Where I get to be loafing by bread type separation and dessert isolation.
  • Swept and mopped the floor, so we could eat off it if we needed to (no need so far).
  • Upper body workout by disposing of material that needs to be disposed of, recycled, and decomposed. A preparative activity/work for powerlifting. My personal trainer is Zack (he is not free but not so pricy)

As of 01/31/2023, I fixed the bathroom (men, of course) toilet seat. Please include all skills since this would be a resume booster for my next higher position at SH 🙂

What have you liked best about volunteering with us?

The good vibes from people and the entire organization.

What are you most proud of accomplishing through your volunteer work here?

Learning more.

What do you do when you’re not volunteering with us?

I enjoy running, biking (when weather permits), and keeping connected with family and friends; participating in a political demonstration for a more just society for the people of Iran. Yes, there is the cat that must be brushed, and the normal, you know what.

Do you volunteer for any other organization?

I volunteer at running events to support my joy of running.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

Too many to mention.
