We're proud to share that Food in Transit, a collaborative program between IndyGo and Second Helpings, is officially expanding to a year-round service!
Launched as a winter pilot in December, Food in Transit distributed more than 1,000 pounds of fresh, nutritious food to over 300 people in just a few weeks. Now, thanks to strong community response and growing need, the program will continue twice a month at the Julia M. Carson Transit Center.
Distribution is at 201 E. Washington St., Indianapolis and take place every second and fourth Tuesday
This effort brings free grocery staples and produce directly to where people already are, removing barriers and expanding food access for IndyGo riders and downtown residents alike.
"Food in Transit shows what's possible when transportation and hunger relief work together with purpose," said Linda Broadfoot, CEO of Second Helpings. "When we align our missions, we can create solutions that are practical and truly responsive to community needs."
No registration is required, just stop by. Together, we're making sure more neighbors have access to the food they need, when and where they need it most.
