Hope for the Working Hungry: What’s Next

The Working Hungry has been very well received at 55+ showings around the state, and garnered a regional Emmy award nomination! Now it’s time to talk about next steps. How do we make change?

Bread for the World and Gleaners invite you to a one-hour event titled Hope for the Working Hungry on Tuesday August 29th 6:30-7:30 pm at St Luke’s United Methodist, Indianapolis, and on-line.

The event will feature:

  • Fred Glass, CEO of Gleaners, on why food banks need to be ending poverty, not just feeding the hungry
  • Dr. Shellye Suttles, IU and Indy Hunger Network, addressing local learnings and toxic myths that keep the US from ending poverty and hunger
  • Dr. Jim Ziliak, Hoosier native and Founding Director of the Center for Poverty Research at University of Kentucky, will share policy solutions with bipartisan appeal
  • Thoughts from Senator Todd Young
  • An effective advocacy action
