Socialites, Cookbooks and Second Helpings
A few weeks ago, we received a message that a local ladies group called the Circle City Socialites were putting together a cookbook and wanted the proceeds from sales to benefit Second Helpings. Since we always welcome our community to find creative ways of supporting our mission, we invited them down to lunch to talk about the details. When they arrived we were greeted by two lovely and charming ladies who introduced themselves by their Socialite-given names: Splatty Hearst and Screama Donna, both members of the Circle City Socialites Roller Derby Team.
Would you turn down an offer of support from a "Jammer" and "Blocker"? Well, we couldn't either, so we're happy to announce the release of The Circle City Socialites' Guide to the Good Life. This cookbook is packed with recipes and "happiness tips" from Indy's cutest, nicest and hardest-hitting Roller Derby Team.
To celebrate the release of the cookbook, the Socialites are hosting a reception Thursday, June 11th, at the Mavris Cultural Center from 5-8pm. The event is free, open to the public and promises, "food and cocktails from our recipes, pool and ping-pong, bout footage on the big screen and Socialites on skates! All proceeds from the event, and $1 of every book sold goes directly to Second Helpings.
The Socialites have taken their generosity and support one step further by spotlighting Second Helpings at their June 20th bout at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. Come join us for a good, old-fashioned roller derby bout!
You can pre-order copies of the Guide to the Good Life, and get details about the June bout here.
