Red Light Driver - Rock to Fight Hunger

When we started recording songs for our new EP"UFO Lost", we didn't quite know how we would release it. We wanted to do something different, we wanted to do it ourselves, we wanted people to hear it, and we wanted to give something back to our community. I've been inspired by bands like Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and several others for looking at music distribution differently. Then I received a message from Kaiser Cartel about their upcoming release. They were using a website called Pledge Music to help fund their new record. A portion of the money raised during their pledge drive went to a charity of their choice. I thought it was a great idea and really wanted to do something like it.

It was unanimous between bandmates that Second Helpings was the organization we wanted to help. Not only do we know and love some of the people that give their time to Second Helpings (many of which are involved with music and arts in Indianapolis), we also like the idea behind it. Second Helpings is a smart organization that addresses multiple areas of need. A lot of problems our city faces are cyclic and Second Helpings helps to break some of those cycles. We talked during practice about the "give a man a fish/teach a man to fish" proverb, and decided that Second Helpings does both. That's pretty cool.

In true DIY fashion we decided to do everything from our website instead of using a 3rd party like Kickstarter or Pledge Music. All of us worked on the redesign of the site and Drew (drummer, good dude, and web designer extraordinaire) put it all together. People can go to www.redlightdriver.com and download all three of our records for free. A button to donate is located on the download page. People donating $10-$25-$50 will receive T-Shirts, a future vinyl full-length, and credits on the next release. From now until we're done being a band, 20% of all money collected from our site will go directly to Second Helpings.
